Isn't nature wonderful. What would we photograph if it weren't for such a beauty. I love this photo. The colours and composition are awesome.

This is very cool - very abstract, almost looks like modern art. But knowing that it's actually a scientific image makes it even more real. I'd never have thought that acid would look so beautiful.

I like these images - as well as your high-placing entry. Chemistry is / was a passion for me when growing up and through university. I did have to look up mandelic acid. For the dunderheads like myself, you might add the Wikipedia link or information to this substance:

From Wikipedia: Mandelic acid was discovered while heating amygdalin, an extract of bitter almonds, with diluted hydrochloric acid. It was first reported in 1909 by J. W. Walker and V. K. Krieble. The name is derived from the German "Mandel" for "almond".
