 Stopped on my way somewhere to take a picture of something else, and here they were at the end of a day turned grey.
Usual tweaks, USM and bw conversion.
Somehow this conjures up cognitive dissonance.

So much for the flocking instinct. I like the B&W on this- the subjects are well suited for it with their strongly contrasting colors, and it (IMO) adds to the surface of the water by adding definition to the ripples.

Nice shot, I'm not sure I like the grayscale on this one though =) Mind you its not like Canadian Geese having any colour...

Anyone that can work the phrase 'cognitive dissonance ' into a photo gets a comment from me :- )

I do have to agree with you though - for a species that regularly travels thousands of miles, they do look wonderfully lost . .

lol two pictures and none of the birds are facing you! They must all be camera shy ;) I love how the dark heads really pop out from the background. The ripples in the water look so sleek too.
