Selected everything but me and my head. Adjust levels on the selection to get the background truly white. Inverted selection - adjusted levels on that. Resized. Export to JPG.
Post challenge As pointed out by one of the commenters, there are a couple of shots with this title on the site already which I only found out about during voting.

It's been done before but this is done better than the other two with the same title and theme, though not as close to the icon you are emulating . I think portrait mode may be better.
