A bit of a stretch for this challenge however on an unrelated note I am glad to see him wearing darkened eye protection after the reports I've read of long term eye damage from glass work due to IR. I don't think this meets the challenge however lets look at it anyway... nice job on the lighting, the flame is very clear, the glass is brilliant looking. Over all seems a little soft, especially at the top, could be a motion blur as I don't know what shutter speed you needed to capture the flame like that. Still a nice image regardless.
It's a stretch to consider safety glasses a mask. In any event, the focal point here is the actin of the glassworking rather than the mask. I wouldn't go so far as to say it doesn't meet the challenge, but a different angle/perspective might have made it more a more interesting shot. For example, looking from underneath the flame up towards the face for a tighter composition including both elements.
the background is a little distracting, maybe if you kept the flame and glass in color and the rest in black and white it might have been less distracting...
now if you could have got him holding that hot blue glass up near his face, with his blue bandanna, and that blue flame, and a simple uncluttered background . . it could have been a winner. As it is this is a nice shot and a very valid interpretation, but I suspect too 'busy' for most voters.
