A couple of weekends ago I had not had much of a chance to get out a take photos and then on Sunday evening after dinner this little critter landed in the garden and posed exceptionally patiently while I snapped away

How cool is THAT!!! I'm in awe. I just got a new macro lens and am trying so hard to master it. So far, I haven't been too thrilles with my results, but I think gradually I'm getting there. Photos like this are my standard! CONGRATULATIONS!!
this is a beautiful shot- the wings look translucent against the background and yet have their own sparkle and texture! :) :-D looking forward to seeing what your June study is! :)
Jon, so glad you broke 6.0 again -- and on a free study, no less! Not to jump on the comment bandwagon, but the sparkle in the wings really is striking. I almost have the feeling that if I zoomed in on the topmost wing I'd see an aerial view of city lights.
Well look at you. I gave this a 7 (really, take that as a compliment lol). I'm not a bug fan either. I thought the clarity of the photo was amazing but I really loved the red glittery wings. Beautiful catch and a great placement in the FS! Congrats on your new 2nd PB!!
OMG Jon!! This is yours? It's magnificent! And I don't know if you remember, but I am NOT into bugs at ALL. So for me to even vote on this has to tell you something.
The lighting and colors are really outstanding - very cool and congrats on your second best photo!!
