Thanks to hanae My wife for putting up with my constant moaning about my crappy lights and for modelling for me for over an hour during her cooking time too.
Thanks also to Mr_Pants for helping out setting the lights up and general support.
I REALLY like this shot of Hanae, I'm not sure if anyone will recognise her at all, she has many interesting looks. My BIGGEST dream is that someone mistakes it for a Librodo it is his work that inspired me to shoot this shot.
est score - 6.6
dream score - 7.4, I'm hoping for a PB if it goes over a 7
Used very cheap lighting and a made up diffuser and also a snoot flash i got at the local flea market for £10.
I wish this was advanced editing as there are many things I would do but for a basic edit, and very little has been done to this shot, I think it works quite nicely.
WOW! Many (or Manny) Thanks for the comments and FAVS, really really happy. The catchlight is a small square strobe and a snoot.

The thing that stands out to me is that you did very little editing-very impressive image , her gaze , the lighting- just a superb image.
Your photography is so good it makes me ache...
Beautiful portrait of the very beautiful Hanae. I particularly love that she's not plastered in make-up as so many of the models used in DPC entries are. The eye contact is electrifying and the lighting (and lovely shadows), the colour and print of the fabric and the composition are just right.
Well done, Marac!
Hope you two can make it to Kew in a couple of weeks when Bexxi is visiting?
Congrats Marac!! This had that wow factor for me, Hanae really does have some great 'looks' and this is another to add to her collection! Great modelling Hanae ;o)
I think SC really need to look into who gave this a 1,2 or 3... I know everyone has their own opinions, but jeez, not only does this nail the challenge (duh!) but the use of colour and lighting is top notch... Could easily pass for a Librodo shot.
I would so love to know who voted this down, gutless little fuckwads that they are.. nice one MAK, you deserve it with this shot.
A striking capture. Way to go team Mak and Hanae!
If I where the betting type I'd say the odds where heavily in favor of this getting into the top3. Very well deserved. Great shot all around. Congratulations :)
Oh MAK! Sorry its not a personal best -- but this is absolutely stunning -- and what a tribute to your technical talent to be able to pull this off in basic editing.
The shot I've been waiting to see...this is amazing. I will have to admit, the first thing that DID come to mind was librodo, but with a different style to it...this is amazing bud. Enjoyed the race with you, congrats again :) very well deserved ribbon
The thumbnail is very simple and not with, for me, a lot of impact, but I knew there was going to be something special... and full size it just grabs me and doesn't let me go!! I don't know what it is about the image.. maybe the intense gaze coupled with the intense lighting.... in any case, you did a very wonderful job! Surprising that you did very little editing - it looks to me like you spent a long time getting things perfect!
Very nice photo.
Like the contrasts, the colors and the composition.
One 'bad' point : the reflection in the eyes. I was first attracted by her look, and the reflection came up straight ... disturbing.
Wonderful use of color. I love the contrast between the bright blue on her left contrasting the pure black on her right. Beautiful model. I am not sure I like the few hairs falling into her eyes.
Brilliant composition & lighting! I like the way you have put some hairs from top leading toward eyes, skin tones. I can see work approaching to Libordo's style..10.
