It seems like the lighting is a bit harsh and some areas are washed out and out of focus. The shot would be more interesting if the details in the roots were available.

Gratuitous use of black and white hasnt covered up the fact parts of the subject are out of focus. Good subject matter.

bizarre plant. focus is soft on root tendrils . i would have preferred them sharp and the stump softer instead of the opposite.
