Post challenge: This was so much fun to set up and take. Maiah, my granddaughter, couldn't take her eyes off of me. I loved the little grin in this shot.
I guess some people didn't get my humor. All the clutter in the bg was set-up. I wanted it to look grimy and cluttered. I know the technicals weren't the greatest. I really wanted to use this processing..., but I had to use basic editing!

PS...I found this old hairdryer at a thrift store some time ago and I've been wanting to use it in a picture.

I've not seen this before.. It is FANTASTIC!!! The background is perfection espically for you haveing to us a basic edit!! I live in the Heart of the Ozark Mountain Country, and This is such a believable scene around here!! Not that I would do it in the pix but I've seen em looking about like that BUT with the lit cig hanging out of their mouth while they hold the baby!! Kudos from an expert at seeing this scene!!!! LOL
OMG Hipychik, that is too frickin funny, and you know what? When I was a kid we had that exact hair dryer, like a big inflatable shower cap with the hose on the end....we used it all the time! Wouldn't be suprised if my mum still has it in perfect working order. :-)
What a riot - so well done!!! It's a shame it didn't rate higher, because this image is really brilliant. Well, you're mentioned in the posthumous thread, which is where I saw it, so it's getting some well-deserved glory afterall.

Lol - I haven't seen the movie, but terrific photo. A bit too much grain on the stove and her jeans (left inside leg). Otherwise your image gives a complete story.
The child is amazing :) It looks a bit like modern Madonna with child to me. Great set up, I love the retro feel of this picture. Fantastic model. I can see a story behind it.
