Retake of my first challenge entry. Used an old ND filter and smeared it with Vasiline. Took me awhile to get the effect right and some of the shots honestly looked like acid trips :-)
I have this problem of shooting the same things over and over again. I say it is a problem because I live in such a diverse and beautiful area, I should be able to produce unique shots; ones I haven't visited over and over and over...I guess by doing this, I can see how the light plays at different times of day and different times of year. That is what photography is all about though, light and seeing the light and how it plays into the scene. I think once we get passed the subjects and focus more on the light, that is when our photos really stand out.
Anyway, thank you everyone for the wonderful comments they are much appriciated as always...
God bless

just having a look thru your portfolio and this one jumped right out at me ... how wonderful it is when a promising thumb delivers so much more .. this is so beautiful .. the lighting you talk about is absolutely perfect in this photograph .. and vaseline on the filter has given you an incredibly excellent result ..
congratulations on your 5th place !! which i only noticed after making most of this comment ..
and yes you do live in the most beautiful area .. where i live is pretty yuk by comparison .. makes you get good at close-ups coz the scenery can be a bit ordinary .. well compared to this sort'v place anyway .. australia's gum trees just arent that attractive ..
i should get out more .. the firetrail is becoming a bit overdone .. !!.. and yet as you would find when you photograph a scene a few times, you can never re-create the exact conditions or image .. :)
& thankyou so much for you comment in pic your fav pik .. :)
This seems so familiar -- have I seen it in another challenge? Anyway, very nice, though I think the frame is a little heavy for the subject. I'll be back later to bump this up. :-)
Cool scene. The blurring looks almost selective. Very pleasing shot. My tendency would be to make the greens more vibrant green, but this stands strong as is.
