I really like this shot, but just not for this challenge. Though the background is in soft focus(more like completely out of focus) the subject is not and I don't see how this is specific to the challenge at hand. This looks great for basic editing. Great job with the lighting. Keep posting :)

Very nice image, but does not (to my eye) appear to meet the challenge of a soft focus image (the subject is tack sharp).

I love the shot. Great lighting and limited color pallette. It doesn't seem like soft focus to me but I still love it.

This sucks cause it is not soft at all yet it is clearly a great picture. It is so obvious to me that you have the ability to dial in the exact amount of softness... makes me wonder if I know what the heck I am doing.

nice sharp shot, great composition, I really like the light from the left. I'm going to pass on scoring this because I love it, but I don't get the soft focus. Wonderful image!

This is a really good picture but there is no soft focus on the image. Or at least I can't see it. Looks very sharp.

Really incredible shot, nice work with lighting and everything, my only problem is the lack of "soft focus", there is great bokeh, but the main subject is completely in focus.

Ya know, I am sorry, but this is way too sharp for this challenge.

This image is, however, a great image, even though you have tried to shoehorn it in.

Color is very nice and not distracting, light excellent, dof excellent, comp. excellent, texture excellent, highlight and shadow is again excellent.

Because this image is too sharp, it is not anymore than a midrange contender imo.

I really like the tones and look of this image and would possibly give it a 9, but this is a soft focus challenge and apart from the background which is supposed to be oof, then I don't get it. The lighting is superb...not sure what to do here...6
