This is a composite photograph of m51, the whirlpool galaxy and it's violent nextdoor neighbor, NGC5195. The older galaxy, NGC5195, is tearing apart it's neighbor, m51 due to intense tidal forces. On a good clear night, this pair is easily visible in even small telescopes just to the south of the second star in the handle of the big dipper. This photo is a composite of 3 10 minute exposures taken from my backyard in Bedford, NH. Lens was a 10" newtonian telescope. ISO800, canon 350xt, noise reduction on.

here is the dilemma. While this is a photograph that I could by no means take, it does lack the punch of others in this challenge. I respect the technical photographic ability it took to take this picture. I guess I could just see more! either closer up to the galaxy or crisper stars. Nice job anyhoo.
Beautiful capture; really amazing composition and very artistically done (I bet the equipment you used for this shot was $$ (well... beautiful and well done!) :) :-D I hope this scores well (10) :)
an unusual image but very interesting. I haven't many parameters for voting on an astronomical photo but I think that 10 is a good vote. thanks for the exif data where I see that the F/stop=0, why? this is the result where you shot without the lens.
