i stayed in this small town called Meerane for 3 days while attending a rehearsal for a concert tour of a friends band. During the socialism era Meerane was famaous for it's rich textiles industries. but after reunion the small, mostly familily run factories could'nt stand the competition against the big west german companies and went belly up. with the decline of most of the industry in the town many people went, too.
since then many living houses and factories, warehouses, shops and other places got abandonded in Meerane, walking through the streets feels a bit like visiting a ghost town.
