I love the abstract quality and lighting with this. Beautiful and soft.

The comments crack me up. Cucumber, people. If I am wrong. Then I obviously have no clue as well.

I'm stunned that so many commenters couldn't tell what this was. Do these people not pay attention to the food they eat? And I think you deserved a MUCH higher score. This is a wonderfully creative take on the challenge theme. I scored this one tied with the photo that took second place.

You sure got folks commenting on this one Jon. I think it looks like an ovum with spermatozoa trying to get inside, but then that would take a really big macro lens.

Love the pattern and the brightness.

Neat shot, but I'm not sure what it is? A Grape? maybe not such an abstract macro!

nice concept. makes for an awesome shot

At first I thought this was a flower, then I realized it was the center of a cucumber! Very creative take on the challenge

Nice macro, the colors are lovey and soothing and i appreiciate the abstractness but I can't really see this in a magazine.... It looks delicious though, and stands out so i can't really fault you for that.

Took me a while to tell what I was looking at. The soft focus doesn't work for me.

Nice colors. A little too abstract for my taste.

Too blurry would of been better if there was a stronger light source behind it

Very dream-like quality. Not sure what I'm seeing, in fact. But nice execution.

This cucumber is so abstract that it can't be appetizing but it does look beautiful and fresh. Like it very much.

no clear focal point here.

I am going to nit-pick! LOL The only thing that is calorie free is water. This looks like some sort of fruit, maybe a lemon or lime? But that will not affect how I score the photo.

Have not idea what this is

Very nice close up. I like the soft focus - it gives it an artistic look.
