Not much of a photo IMHO. Done with an ordinary flash light sitting on the ground below the flower, and on cam flash.

It is about 3/4 of the original image.
I think maybe you'd like a flashlight that has an adjustment on the lens to focus the beam. I wouldn't be surprised if you got into painting w/light. It can have beautiful results.
I like the off center compostion, a little too much negative space IMHO. The yellow flower doesn't stand out enough, maybe going in a little closer so it filled the right hand corner (or most of the right hand side) .... a shallower dof may have helped, the green leaves are neither in focus nor blurred enough, maybe achievable if the p&s has a portrait setting
