I captured this image in Washington, DC during the Kite Festival on the National Mall in Washington DC. I was walking to the Jefferson Memorial and decided the take advantage of the opportunity and the gorgeous sunset. The structure cutting through the frame is, of course, the Washington Monument.

the buillding to the left is a bit distracting and serves to cut the photo in two. I think this shot would have more of an impact if it was cropped out entirely, or zoomed back to show the top of the building in the shot.
Ambitious picture with the distance involved, just doesn't make it I'm afraid.
Longer lens would improve it, but maybe that isn't possible with the camera you have.
Oh man!!!! I woke up that morning and decided not to go to the Kite Festival since it was raining. I really wish I had gone in the afternoon. Nice capture of the sunset.
