This almost works for me, but it's not quite a killer shot. Not totally sure why. I like your shading in the background, but the clarity of the actual subject is still not spot on. It's hard to get a deep DOF at such range, and I think this one begs for more DOF and to be a little brighter.

I really enjoy the color tones in this image. I feel a touch more space to the right of the point, and the point being sharp, would tie it in better to the title.

the composition is kinda awkward, maybe if was centered, with more space between the end and the frame edge

I like the shot, but the top of the 'rod' looks out of focus, and I'm finding that more distracting that I would have thought...
