My favorite hangout - the Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof (main train station). I was walking in, he was walking out, I had my hands full and the wide angle lens on the camera. I stopped, raised the camera, he looked, I snapped. :-)
After converting to B&W using the CS3 tool, I tried a lighting rendering effect to spotlight him a bit more. noraneko suggested it. Also used a bit of shadow/highlight on it. This was an outtake from curves and a consideration for FS.
Deb, I just noticed that I never did comment on this pic (almost a year ago) and I have no idea why not. I have looked at it a number of times and really do like it a lot.
I like this alot Deb. For me it's almost a picture (the man) whithin a picture (the station). I usually don't like when I feel there are competing subjects in a single image but it really works in this one.
The architecture here is perfectly suited for the B&W and you've captured it well. Of course, the guy makes the picture, this makes me wonder what he's thinking as you took his picture. You're a lot braver than I am!
It's a nice shot with good composition and great detail. And I'll agree with the others, the man and his look are priceless. Overall, the shot could stand to have a little deeper blacks, but not a big deal.
Nice street shot, the old man really adds a nice personalized element to the shot, almost as if he's looking at me. i really like the building and it's architecture. I might bump the contrast a bit but still a cool shot.
Not sure if I'd call it a "decisive moment" and his "expression"...I'd say he doesn't have one (maybe that startled, "why are you pointing that damn thing at me" look?). It's interesting how people see simple details. Never amazes me but I should be used to it by now. LOL
The architecture's nice, train stations always carry some vibes of hidden romance. Outside of that, this one doesn't knock me down.
I really like the architecture to this shot, so much depth in the building. I love how the man walking by you is staring at you and he is like hey what are you doing. I think i like the B&W over the color for his one, but can see both having merit to them.
Too awesome. Love how he's looking at you. I'm conflicted about the BW versus the color. Both have their merits. In any case, the composition is stunning.
I get so jealous that you have all these great train stations to take photographs in.
I like the B&W(no surprise there really:) and the repetition of those curves!
I like the comp and the relation between the guy and the ceiling of the station. ABout the greyness, i like the grey in the ceiling, but maybe it could use a bit more contrast.
LOL .. i'm laughing at you deb .. walking in .. him walking out .. did you have to put stuff down to get that camera in your face ?? .. probably not .. you've really captured the look of someone not quite sure about YOU !!!... love your process .. its excellent .. and a bloody good place for photographs ... i can see why you'd hang out here .. :)
nicely processed, you are so great at the transformation to B&W! I guess you were caught eh?
or maybe you caught him? besides flashing you, i thought perhaps he was trying to make off with something he just lifted from one of the carts back there. (that left hand looks shifty HA!would be great with a little blur action on it)
I like the off-centeredness of the ceiling and you certainly got caught. I'm waiting to see one where the subject tries to throw something at you :-) Next months theme: "Dodging Objects when Caught Shooting Candids"
