Ferrara is known in Italy as the city of bicycles, it's very flat and everything is within a maximum 15 minute ride so absolutely everyone has a bike. There are an average of 300 bike thefts a day (although virtually no other crime), however, because your bike was probably stolen in the first place it's not a big deal, you just go steal another one! It might seem wrong but it is a system and it works, non of the bikes are newer than 20 years old.
I prefer this version over the color; it seems add a bit more drama to it. It also reminds me of "Bicycle Thief", although I must admit I haven't seen the movie, but your story seems to support the stealing of bicycles.
The B&W version has that nice timeless feel to it. I love the story that goes with this, too - look forward to hearing the stories that go with your shots this month!
OH wow - what a difference black and white makes. It totally makes it a different photograph. Now we can concentrate on the shade and shape differences. I like it very much.
