Nice capture Mark, and the wings give it so much more depth than a classic 'head shot'.

I gave this an 8. Really liked the unique effect created by your angle and the patterns on the wings.

Impressive. When I saw the shallow DOF I didn't expect the focal length to be 200mm or less. How close were you?

Stunning shot, love the DOF. Congrats on top 5, Mark.

Great DOF. Gives a sense of "movement" to this shot. Nice and clean. Back to bump you up to 9.

Let me guess - you are an employee of a falconry or mates with one? Looks like a night shot with a large diffused flash. No matter - amazing shot! :)

The composition and DOF in this picture (whether real or artificial) and the perfect sharpness of the bird's head make this special. I like it.

Nicely done, like the fact you got the catch light in the eye. Really nice detail in the facial area.

I'm a little jealous of this one as I've been dappling with the birds lately... great shot!!
