personally, i found the gas mask/bike combo to be completely bizarre - my condolences to those of you who see this regularly!

That really is an unusual sight. I like the darkness and grittiness of the photo. It complements the guy's outfit and gas mask lol. Hope you are enjoying Paris! Oh and congrats on that X-prize too.
as an ex-cycle courier, this image really resonates. the darkness, while criticised by many, epitomises the grimy reality of urban cycling, as does the face mask. i love the zooming composition, the texture of the wall, and the touch of red in the reflector.
To me I wouldn't say this is harsh. We need air to breath and without some type of visual BG for why the biker it breathing through a cloth I don’t see “harsh”. I don't think this will score well, but I like the editing.
