This is what the plant, known as a Staghorn Fern, looks like
I just like to say a BIG THANK YOU for all the wonderful comments to this macro image.
It has a very special place in my heart for many reasons.
Thanks also to the favorite some of you have given me with this image.
THIS IS ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITES OF YOURS SHEZ, I LOVE THE COLOURS AND AS ALWAYS YOUR COMPOSITION IS PERFECT. I AM GOING TO MISS YOU SO MUCH MY DEAR FRIEND XXXX
SIMPLE AND ELEGANT PLANT ABSTRACT/MACRO. YOU SHOW US ALL THE LOVELY TEXTURES AND THE LINES OF THIS STAGHORN. IT IS THE CURL/CURVE OF THE LEAF THAT CAPTURES THE EYES ATTENTION. THERE ARE ALSO SOME VERY RICH COLORS THAT ARE CAPTIVATING.
Oh WOW! What a great start! Amazing lines, textures and colors. I love how the edge of the leaf creates a frontier between the deep brownish-orange and the vibrant lime green.
This is just beautiful Shez. You have such sharp focus and beautiful coloring in it. It looks like a nice piece of leather. Thanks for the full plant images and dimensions. I was thinking it was a much smaller area in the macro.
Wow Shez! You jumped right into this challenge. The new lens seems to give you the reach you were needing to "shoot from the hip" so to speak, and get your amazing and insightful classy close ups of living growing things.
You found an angle to make the edge of the staghorn just jump off the screen. I have a big one too, about 20 years old, and I don't think it ever looked this good.
Oh Shez, what a fantastic way to start the month! This is just beautiful. You composition it excellent and the colours really work well together. So glad you are joining in the macro month, I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! :o)
Excellent choice of angle and lines. I love the abstract that you have created. The complimentary colors and suede-looking textures really finesse this well. What a great first day image!
A very nice macro. I really like the texture(s) and the leading line. The color contrast from one side of the edge to the other is great. I think the focus is in the perfect place for this type of macro. What can I say other than a great job.
Great photo that does an excellent job of using the contrasting colors. I like where you placed the part of the image with the best focus in the overall image. Very well done.
Sherryl, I admire your photography even more than your valiant spirit. You have an eye for abstract beauty in the botanical world & the skill to capture it in such a way that I can see it, too. I'm starting out this spring with the determination to use DOF to express my own abstract vision, with your work as my inspiration. Thank you for being here & keep on clickin'!
Beautiful! I have no idea what this leaf looks like, but the macro is unique and fascinating. Love the textures and the contrast in colors. That thin white line at the edge of the leaf really helps this pop. The curving shape is so interesting, and I wonder how this would look if the line went diagonally, giving more space to show off that curvy line! Great start to the month! :)
