okay i really don't know ... maybe it's female fish :-)
processed in lightroom with curves and cropped, in photoshop denoised, bordered and sharpened
i have high hopes for this photo but a hummingbird photo will win ... yea even if it is pet challenge :-) ... or some furry cat looking seriously intelligent LOL
that's it
PS: the name is not Fred, it's Dick but i thought it might be even more provocative considering the hummingbird analogy :-)

Compositionally, I like the location of the fish in the frame and how his "shape and direction" kinda mirrors the stuff in the background as far as direction goes. Technically, the colors and focus in this are great. Enough color without being oversaturated, and they compliment nicely.
I seriously don't know what could improve it. Maybe some of the voters were put off looking at a fish at this angle? It looks unnatural, or something? Not a lot of help, I know, but I seriously don't know what to do differently to make this any better.
This is a great image - the composition takes into account all the elements of the image, which in this case means taking into account the background that falls beyond the DOF. I hope this does well, it's one of my 10s for this challenge.
It sure does look like a hummingbird at a quick glance! I can't figure out what kind of fish this is, no matter how long I look. Platy? Goldfish? Very cool angle.... it makes you look.
