the PowWow is used by families and tribes to celebrate many things, mainly creativity and activity. This particular event was also a competition for best dancers
This is a very busy photo, but that is what makes it interesting, to observe all the little details of the faces and costumes.
You captured the tradition nicely with this one. There is a lot of life here.
Another photo that "drums" up wonderful memories. The colors and the expressions are so true to these people and you can see the pride in their heritage! Especially in the face of the older gentleman in the dead center. This epitomizes the beauty of these people and a part of life many have never seen! STUNNING! (Make sure you hit the Sun Dance!!)
How fascinating to be able to attend something as wonderful as this. It is so interesting to read your narrative. And what fabulous colours! Look forward to seeing a few more.
wow anni .. this is an amazing photograph .. the colours .. the ppl and now knowing that each of these costumes are hand made .. i'm thinking you'll miss this place when you go ? ..:)
These are amazing Anne. I'd like to see more of your shots at the pow wow. The ornate traditional dress is something missing from Australian culture. These are really vibrant. Nice shots.
