Beautiful tonal range to this image, and a visually interesting subject. I wish it was at more of a diagonal line to give a bigger dynamic impact to the image.

Ack, you should have cropped this so the right part is out, leaving the spring on the right more. Nice lighting. If you want more of the spring to be in focus, use a smaller aprature (higher number).
I have no idea what the subject actually is but I love the image. The wood frames the image very well and echoes the vertical line of the metal spring. The light/ reflections on the metal look great in black and white. I like the slightly shallow DOF choice. Very nice indeed.
