It might be ineresting to shoot this with a different, more interesting setting - perhaps seating the subject at a desk or at a library or something would have made this more interesting... I don't know. Just a thought! :) I like the idea you have here though.
This is a nice image that tells your story of a bookworm pretty well. I think it could use some hue adjustment to pull down the greens. They seem a little heavy because of the background and the book itself. Also, sharpening would have made her eyes brighter and brought out the specs more.
Not sure what you're using for acamera or lens, but you lack contrast here as if you had lens flare or just a plastic lens. Color seems off a bit too. Not sharp.
