I used a dark background to bring out the skin's pale color and then shot from above the subject to reduce glare on glasses. I chose black and white photo to display depression in the face of the subject.

I find the shirt far too distracting - and your subject's skin looks like it has been over-smoothed - there is no texture visible, something that's not to my taste.
