These poor guys hang around all winter. I fed all 200 of them last year and I learned the meaning of fowl/foul odor!! Needless to say I'm not feeding them this year, though I felt sorry for them yesterday and gave them some bird seed from my indoor birds. They came back this morning to finish off the seeds.
They are so cute. My neighbors have been feeding them this year so the covey is broken-up from last year's count. Anyhow, they walk around in the snow and on the path I have shoveled on the side on the house.
I had to take this from inside the window or they would have flown away when I went outside. Quail fly in all directions and almost always... one poor bird will fly directly into the window pane.
Excellent composition, and the bits of grass coming through the snow really add to ground this. Nice shot, especially since you took it through a window!
Aww - look how cute they are! Great shot. We have quail in Phoenix - different colors of course, to blend in with the desert. Every morning at 7 am there's a mass exodus of them in one direction on the mountain where I live. And in the evening, they all wander back. It's fun to watch how the run in circles and hear their little funny sounds.
They are adorable with those little crests on their heads!! I'd feed 'em, but then I'm a complete pushover :::grins::: Very nice composition; one has given up and is following the path to look elsewhere for food, and one seems to be telling the other they might as well give up and follow the first one.
Darlene, the composition of this one is really really good. You've got the magical number of three, which is always good for design. AND they make up a thin triangle, another always good element in design.
Good job.
