Tonight is the eighth and last night of Hanukkah, so all the candles are lit. I can't remember when or where I got this menorah, but I've used it for years. The tablet in the middle represents the Ten Commandments (with the Hebrew letters for 1-10, starting top right); the rampant lions are ancient symbols of Israel. The paper plate is an even more ancient method of catching any wax drippings before they ruin your stereo; it's in Deuteronomy somewhere, I'm sure.

More information on the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah can be found here (and of course at its Wikipedia entry).
Nicely exposed and composed. Do the different colors of candles mean anything? Thanks for explaing the menorah to us. I always like to learn new things on other seasonal traditions.
