I should have known that this was you JJ. Love the simplicity of subject and tonality of this shot. You have my vote for underrated shot of the challenge!
While I like all the elements of the picture, (the subject, the arrangement, the textures, the monochrome treatment), here is what I think detracts from the whole. If you draw a line down the center, top to bottom, the right half has no real interest. It is just a continuation of elements from the left, and doesn't "become" a negative space. Having all the interest of the subject weighted to the left usually effects one's subconscious as darker, or awry, or discordant. A mental diconnect. This effect does not seem appropriate to the subject, and to my eye, detracts from the overall effectiveness of the picture. A different cropping might make all the difference.
Wow, this is great... definately a mundane subject that pops right off my screen! The subtle differences in texture between the floor, chair, and bread is what makes this an excellent photo IMO.
I'd feel a little worried to eat bread that was placed on something someone just had their behind on. Sorry. Very unattractive. If the picture had been taken from a closer pov, I probably wouldn't have known what it was actually on.
Would love to have seen this in the textures challenge as there are so many textures in this shot.
Just as fitting for this challenge..great clarity and lighting....9
