Went through about 30 Wallnuts to get this one near the end. I calibrated the timing to the first shutter sound of the burst 3 mode on my 717. These things are impredictable!
PS: The top left wallnut was actually staged, it's hanging there permanently.
Post-processing:
cloned out many unwanted debris; moved some of the debris around; added a motion blur on staged wallnut; skintoned; boosted reflections on the nutcracker; smart blurred the background; cropped.

Aaprt from your title I love this. Excellent capture with good focus. Thumb is a bit intrusive and lighting on nutcracker could be better and could have been enhanced with a bit of careful dodging.
Wow - that's a pretty fantastic capture. Between the pieces of shell exploding and caught at the very edges of the frame and the hand in the lower left with the nutcracker making a nice dynamic line through the image, you've got the makings of a very well done shot here!
you could have been a hand model ;) Great capture and timing super fast shutter got everything crisp (except for the two bits hurling towards the camera - this is a nice touch)
