 My memories of college: Procrastinating till the night before, studying under a single desk lamp, and powered (poorly) with cafeine. So that's what I tried to create. I chose monochrome and a little graininess via a high ISO as that matches my mental image.

400D with EF 50/1.8 on $6 rummage sale tripod

I spent 6 days refining the idea for this image and just an hour making it happen. (Procrastinating all over again, I guess.)

converted to monochrome
- brightness
+ contrast
cropped
sharpened more than usual

Unfortunately this photo is not clever enough to warrant a high score. The text could be a little darker to really stand out....not sure black and white helped this shot unfortunately.

I like the composition and the idea enough, but seems a bit flat - maybe i needs a bit more contrast.
