My first real test since i got it a week ago. Not going to do very well against all the water drop submissions, but I like it a lot. I also think some voters may confuse the underfeathers with motion blur. They were so faint I had to burn them a bit to strengthen them.
That concrete post was a point of much controvery with some seagulls, as to who had the rights to it. Until this pelican staked a claim and that was the end of it. Was quite amusing :)
This lens is what I've been missing all along. L L L L L L L L L

Amazing sharpness, especially on the brown feathers. Nice neutral background keeps things simple so this should do well. Theres something not quite right with the composition though, both birds are looking/moving into the right hand side so there should be more empty space there, but this would bring the perch into the centre which breaks the rule of thirds, unless of course you made lots of empty space on the right but then it might look a bit silly.
Finally a good battle scene. :) The colors/highlights in the stork/pelican stand out strong against the overcast sky. I hope it shows well on non-calibrated monitors so other voters notice that. Focus/Sharpness is well executed.
