 Sweet, sweet bitter Love
The taste still lingers.
Through my helpless fingers
You slipped away.
Sweet, sweet bitter Love
What a joy you taught me,
What pain you brought me,
So short a stay.
My magic dreams
Have lost their spell.
Where there was hope
There’s an empty shell.
Sweet, sweet bitter Love,
Why have you awakened
And then forsaken
A trusting heart like mine.
~Sweet Bitter Love by Aretha Franklin

so, i was sitting on my patio and i noticed this perfectly heart-shaped leaf on the floor. i looked around at the trees and there wasn't a tree in my yard that had leaves with that shape. then i looked at all my neighbor's trees...nope...no heart-shaped leaves on those trees either. i took it as a sign. this photo was calling out to be shot. ;-)

pretty straightforward processing. i experimented with different textured backgrounds. this is the floor of my garage. i think this is a rust stain...lol...i thought the colorations and textures were interesting, though. the duotone is Pantone 465-C. cropped, adjusted curves, cloned a few weird looking spots, added some noise because the ISO accidentally was set to 1600 and i wanted to even it out, dodge and burn, resize, heavy sharpen on a dupe layer, lower opacity then gaussian blur on a dupe layer, lower opacity.

You and me, we're on the same wave. ;-) Personally, I think this heart shaped leaf might have an alternative sign as well. I'm just sayin'.... :)

Seems as if you tonemapped and I really like it. Nicely composed and great subject to shoot. Nice work.

Nice textures, perhaps more contrast would have picked it out better?
