Mmm, good texture and range of colors, a bit black at the bottom burning detail.

I perhaps see your point, but the fringes of these ares of colour are messy and disorganised I find it difficult to like. The lighting isn't helping any either, being pretty flat, and the exposure could have made a brighter image - it's all very muddy looking here.

more light would have brought out more of the subject's texture, like the closeness to the subject and the composition

A little more sharpness might have scored another point, but this isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. The colors, and nearly parrallel lines running left/right are interesting.

Focus seems a bit soft, which doesn't help reveal subject's texture here

This was okay. Texture is there, but the focus seems a little soft and the lighting a little dim.
