What a very unusual pet photo - I really like it. Not only the limited amount of the dog that's showing but also the way the background creates compositional balance and balances with the black of his nose. Very cool!
I'm not a real big fan of dog nose type photos - but you did a great job with this one. The composition is good, lighting is good and great use of b/w. This shot, imo, really does fit the challenge in that I can see the texture of his nose and the fur seems very soft in this image. Well done. :-)
I'd seen the thumbnail, and was looking forward to the appearance of this shot - but unfortunately I find it a touch disappointing now. B/W is useful, always, to communicate texture, but I don't see much in the image, and the composition is not a strong as I would like - really, the nose is very much centred, and without the flow of patterns and shapes to constantly bring the eye to that point. 6
