Why is it that the best compositions seem to be in the worst light. This one is shot through glass and the focus isn't quite wide enough, but I liked the massing, so I sharpened it as best I could and went for shape over clarity.

I like the snake, there is sertaintly an interesting texture here. Its a shame that you didn't make the photo big enough to see the details, I am sure you will see this effect your voting. Remember to always make the long side 640 pixles.
Very good composition with the body wrapping around. This makes the shot very pleasing to look at. Lighting lends to the beautiful capture of the scales. Great highlights and shadows really adds depth to them. "10'
Great subject for the challenge. I'd have made the picture a little bigger and would have tried to get all the background out of the shot (keep just the snake).
I used to work for this guy's cousin. He was from Queensland as well, but didn't have as even a complexion as this one! (Only concern is - I wish it were a bigger photo here on this page!)
I like this one because of it really fits in to the texture theme - the only thing that brings the points down is the background. I would have liked an image filled completly by the snake. But knowing myself - one quick snapshot of this little sweetie would be enough (preferably on full tele). I wouldn't come back for a second shot... :-) Good pic...
Really like the texture that this shot conveys. Very nice colors and exposure. Composition does not captivate me, but overall this shot should do very well. Super job.
Pity about the small image, as it looks to be rather a good shot. Certainly there is good texture, good lighting, and intersting progression to the little fellow's curves. The small size makes it difficult to see real detail on his head though. Very claer that snakes are not slimey though, really shows the smoothness.
