Hot hot hot. Maybe the weather, but the picture is overall too exposed. Needs to be less bright and that would yield better colors and better definition of the textures in the sand.
The placement of the figure turns what could be a very mundane seascape into an interesting composition and gives a sense of the scale of the beach and ocean.
If you have the means, pictures of this type require less exposure. The sand and water are so intense that they give your camera a false sense of exposure for your main subject. You should have also tried to get the horizon dead level. 5
