I don´t suppose many of you remember my may 2007 free study entry taken of Kolbrún María, here it is.
I liked that shot so the idea was to make a series in different seasons of the year, had done another series some of you might recognize with Kristín. The next shot will probably be in January, Kolbrún again sitting in deep snow waiting for her ride to come along, of course in the same clothes with the same bags. I didn´t shoot this for the challenge though, only noticed the challenge after I got home from the shoot and figured, "eh, why not submit since it kindof fit´s that challenge".
We really ran out of time during this photoshoot, I barely managed to take handful of pictures before completely losing the sunlight, this is taken almost 45 minutes after sunset, just love that lens cause without that aperture, I´d been screwed. Kind of like the noise in the image but still, would have wanted the file just a little bit cleaner in full rez, the shot is not really up for big enlargements but works nicely in web resolution.
Very minimal editing, just C1 raw conversion, added some sepia toning with hue/sat, curves and unsharp mask and added the frame. Really wish I could clone out that light bokeh in the upper left corner but of course can´t since it´s basic editing.
Title inspired by a a song performed by the band Cake.

Very cool shot, I know of a local road that would be perfect for a shot like this...I will have to find a willing model to shot something like this...Fantastic, thanks for the inspiration!!! Yes I do remember the May Free Study shot. Also an awesome pic!! Congrats on yet another ribbon!!!! Way to go!!!
I love that song and glad there are others out there that remember Cake! :o) Very cool shot, stunning colours, focus and composition" Congratulations on the blue! :o)
Well, Blue certainly is your best color...Congrats! I loved the Lost in Time presented in the May Free Study and gave it a 10. I didn't vote in this challenge, but probably wouldn't have scored this one as high as I loved the other one better. However, I am thrilled to see you on the front page again.
If you don't mind sharing - what are you using to get the lovely vignette out of the camera?
Hate to sound like a smartass but it´s quite simple, shooting at 1.2 aperture. You should see that 24mm 1.4 wide open, now THAT lens vignettes on a FF camera.
I'm starting to believe you have a wall mural or backdrop with that road! ;-) Well either way, where can I get one?? :) Congrats on your first -- oh yeah, I see you have others. :P
Seriously though, you're always the one to beat. Where's my stick - Ha! sorry can't help myself.
Congratulations! I was guessing about you as a photographer of this image I didn't comment but believe me I was among the 25 who gave 10 to this image.
im not too familiar with the icelandic law but would it be considered a fellony if you removed those orange stakes on the sides of the road? thats the only thing i can see from this photo being flawless
I think this would have been more effective if she was walking on the side of the road, usually you don't see people walking right down the middle, that would have helped to not put her right in the center of the picture too. Nice shot though, this is actually one of the first things that came to my mind when I first read about the challenge.
