 The roof line of the hotel where my cousin got married. The beige things are luminarias. In the old days, they used to be paper sacks with sand in the bottom and a candle in them, and they were used on festive occasions. Now, they are made of plastic and are left in place year round. They look very nice at night, but in the daylight, they are shiny and look like what they are -- ersatz plastic sacks. I used soft focus to try and get rid of some of the shine.

Wow, now that blue is vivid! I really like all of the diagonals formed by the shadows.

It does look so California, with the vivid blue sky, the palm tree and the contemporary white flat architecture. Like a photo in a travel brochure -- very nice!

I love those luminarias. We used to line our house with them on Christmase Eve (or was it New Year's Eve) when we lived in El Paso. They were the real things with the paper sacks. Looking back, its a wonder more houses weren't burned down when they used the real things, right?

i like the of design this entire image .. love the intense blue in the sky and the shadows .. i'm not sure i like the softening but thats just my opinion .. & then again it gives an interesting appearance !!! :)
