A tiny piece of candle was taped to the back of the pencil so that the wick was behind the point. The pencil was then anchored in the candlestick with soggy bath tissue. The wick was then lit and voila!
Thought this was a good idea.. oh well.

I would have liked to see more of the "dinner". A little less light would have made the flame stand out and might have takes care of the colorcast (the color of your background is somewhat odd). A black and white version might have looked a bit stronger.
..and a patriotic dinner at that. :-) Cute idea. I like the minimalistic approach of your image. I am curious how this would look with a darker background.
This doesn't leave much to my imagination, Its a good idea, but when I look at it my first thoughts are that the flame was photoshoped into the picture. It doesn't look natural.
