Congrats on beating your personal best by a whopping 1.5 pts :-) This is a really captivating shot, completely unpretentious and engrossing, utterly luminous.
Obviously you have no control over it, but I think the reason why this wasn't perfect is because the bird is facing the nest. If he were flying away from it, that'd make more sense to our subconscious.
Thats unique for this challenge. I like it, though I may have taken some of the color out of the wings to make it more consistent with the rest of the browns.
It's tough not to love this - The thorns symbolizing the harsh elements ahead - the nest - so small and precarious, the glowing wings reminding how cool it must be to be a bird.
This is one of the best shots that jumped out at me when scanning through the thumbnails. I love the silhouette here and the fact that your subject is doing something, rather than just sitting there looking at the camera. I love the full wingspan and the dof, I'm not sure what else I can say about this shot, it should be a ribbon winner in my opinion.
