Wild carrot or Queen Anne's lace (Daucus carota) is a flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to temperate regions of Europe and southwest Asia. Wild carrot was introduced and naturalised in North America, where it is often known as "Queen Anne's lace". It is so called because the flower resembles lace; the red flower in the center represents a blood droplet where Queen Anne pricked herself with a needle when she was making the lace. The function of the tiny red flower, coloured by anthocyanin, is to attract insects.

I always thought these were very beautiful "Weeds" that grow out in my field. So I went out and shot a few. Then I looked up some information and what I found was typed above. They are very unique and almost everyone had an insect in the middle. Just like the information about them said. They grow so rapidly and I have about a million in my back field. They show up towards the end of summer and then spread thousands of seeds so that in another 10 months, they can bring you delight again. Its amazing how just a weed, can bring you so much knowledge and delight, and I never would have known a thing about them unless DPC had a Flora challenge. :)

A different take on the Queen Annes Lace than I normally see. I love the lighting and the composition. This has a very dreamy feel to it, well done!
