Why am I the only one that LIKES the shallow DOF? For me it makes the viewer stand out where if you had the background in focus as well, your subject gets lost. I think you shoulda thrown a clown in there, John, to make the viewers happy!
Beautiful comp. (Really perfect for a landscape) and I like landscapes that have a tight foreground object or detail. Great idea also. The only weak point (IMO) is the shallow DOF. A more in focus background and perhaps a B&W conversion and this is top ten.
