These are lilac buds on a bush in our back yard.
Shot with Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, handheld.
Edits:
Rotated canvas CW 25 deg.
Curves, levels
Sharpened (USM, 100%, 0.5px, threshold=3)
Shadow/highlight tool
Readjust curves
Hue/saturation (very slight)
Select background, hue/sat to change from bluish to cream
Add border (color selected from bud)
Cloned out a few tiny white specks
Done!

If the photo had something with a soft focus in the foreground to indicate a 'Shallow Depth of Field' I would have given it another point.

Looks like there is a tinge of blue to the Lilac bud that could have been corrected. Nice job cropping and good luck in the challenge!

I took pictures of my lilac buds yesterday, but they didn't come out this well, so I went with another idea. Well done. Good color, composition, and contrast.
