 My sister-in-law was running in the Santa Cruz triathlon, so I had some opportunity to hit the beach and take some shots.

I love this image for many reasons, 1) the action, 2) the silhouettes, 3) lighthouse and haze in the background, 4) the fact that it is NOT converted to B&W - the lighting and reflection off the ocean was just so perfect that I didn't need to convert, and finally, 5) this is image #0036 taken with my NEW 40D, which was just delivered Friday!

No post processing except for save for web.

A great shot!
I see two images here--the horizon and the swimmers.
Because they are both excellent I'm conflicted by which to view.

Nice shot, the silhouettes work really well. Let's you focus on the pose of each person without searching around or facial details and such.

Absolutely stunning! I love this shot. A keeper for sure!

Is it me, or does the horizon seem just slightly off - leaning left?

I like it for the same reasons you do. Wonderful tones. Too bad it isn't in silhouette. Would have been one of the better ones. ;~D
