No tripod, one second exposure, flash (on camera and wireless) at the beginning. Fairly significant crop, some layering to darken up the bottom lashes. No dodging or burning. Finished up with pretty significant sharpening to give the skin an exaggerated texture.

Interesting idea. I can see what you tried to do. But I don't think it works, though. Perhaps if the eyelid went from half open to open with more motion blur it would have worked better.
