They do go together, and the color contrast has the potential of being nice. However, the overall focus is a little soft and it kinda gives the impression of mushy veggies, and the light glares are a little bright, especially at the top of the pic.

Yuck! Oops, just had a flashback to my childhood. Maybe too much light. I might have tried a little more saturation and maybe darkened it one level also. Very appropriate photo for the challenge.

Hehe ! First think that came to my mind! :) Glade I didn't do it now, as I thought it is hard to make Peas and Carots look impressive. If it scores high it will be on comedy value IMO
