Went out with sissi just around sunset and got to this location about half an hour after sunset. It was pouring down rain and there was some heavy fog, the conditions were not very camera friendly (or for that matter, photographer friendly, I got back to the car SOAKED, need to dress better next time), but fortunately I had a plastic cover for the camera with me. Think I might do more of this, go out in real bad weather and take photos, I am slowly getting bored with "normal" looking landscapes taken in optimal conditions.
I have lately begun thinking more what comes out better in large print rather than on the internet so this is yet another image that looks great printed out big, web resolution doesn´t really do it justice.
I didn´t take advantage of the expert ruleset, didn´t really have the need for that with this photo, everything I did is legal within the advanced rules. Raw conversion, curves for contrast, very minimal burning on the cliffs to darken them and finally frame and sharpening after resizing, there was very little I did with this shot in post processing. Actually I only did some very slight dodge/burning and beside that, everything else was basic editing legal.
I was really unsure what to send to this challenge this month, usually I have had my mind set right away but this month I didn´t really take any one picture I really liked but rather 4-5 that I thought were decent and this is one of them. In the end I had narrowed it down to two and frankly just flipped a coin, I am not kidding!
Here is the other one I wanted to submit.

cool, really ragnar axelsson- like, i mean he always went out in these kinda conditions to take his photographs! ;)
and i think it reflects the atmosphere of icelandic landscapes much better than the sunshine-and-blue-sky shots...
It's quite liberating, isn't it, to open up and work the bad weather, the harsh times? That's what I prefer on the Cape, actually; winter over summer anytime for me, given the choice. And as a resident of the Carmel/Monterey area for 4 years in the late 70's, of necessity I came to love the sullen light of winter and how it transformed the landscape.
The landscapes that typically grace the front page usually bore me but this one is rather interesting. I'm so glad you resist including, the hyper cliche, tiny figure in the distance.
