My aunt sitting on a couch by herself. I removed a piece of furniture next to the couch. I did not use a filter. I manually painted over her. I used swaths of color to bring out the color in the chair and the wall. The floor was sufficiently blue.

I really have no background or credentials for commenting on graphical art. I think you did a good job with the painting, and this looks like a lot of pieces of art in this genre that I have seen before, so I have to assume that it is a good example of what it is.
this picture looks so interesting. the only thing that looks real here is the couch, especially its texture, yet it looks miniature-like that one might see in a doll house at the same time, as well.
i agree, "the floor was sufficiently blue" would have been a perfect title :) very cool colour composition.
I'd love to know how you "painted" this in PS i am just venturing into that device of wonder!
I just selected colors with the color picker and then painted areas of her skin to more or less match the shading in the photo. I might have used the eyedropper on her skin for some of the shades. It helps to do some real life painting first. :)
Hopper, Fairfield Porter, they would agree that you nailed this one. I'd love to know how you "painted" this in PS i am just venturing into that device of wonder!
Love the simple color tones and palette. The texture of the rug and couch really adds a lot to the shot with the post processing you did. Too low of a score, especially for a FreeStudy.
"The floor was sufficiently blue" would have made for a good title. :) The artist that this work reminds me of is on the tip of my tongue and I just can't get to it - I think this is brilliantly done. A bit fauvist, too, maybe... Love those big blocks of rich color. That you took an ordinary photograph (some would use the slur "snapshot") and thought to turn it into this fantastic study of color and form is stunning. Would expect to see something just like this hanging on a wall at MOMA.
Interesting editing from you - would not have thought this yours. My favorite part (other than what I commented during the challenge) is in the text - "The floor was sufficiently blue." I think there's an entire poem there somewhere.
What I see doesn't quite jive with your title - I see the plasticity of what we've become as a generation of television-watching zombies. In that sense, this is effective.
