My partner and I had been getting excited about seeing a Total Eclipse of the Moon for several days.
At 8.37pm (AEST) the Sun, Earth and Moon were in total alignment, scattering light as it passed through the Earth's atmosphere and bounced off the moon in hues of bronze and red.
The first stages of the eclipse began at 5.53pm but as the moon passed further into Earth's shadow at 6.51pm, it will gradually dimmed to an unusual golden colour.
When the total eclipse began at 7.52pm it became a bronze and reddish hue before turning blood red.
Unfortunately the cloud got in the way for most of it but suddenly there it was a BLOOD MOON!
Camera on tripod, biggest lens available and set up the remote. Got focus as best I could and snapped away. I took 16 different shots on different exposure settings but this was the one I was most happy with.
Only editing was to resize the image because once I put the grid lines on, my rule of threes was pretty damned closed.

Composition:
This is a well composed shot. Positioning of the moon is great. Close to rule of thirds which brings viewers eye back to subject over and over. Image is framed well, using distances between subjects as I would of done.
Focus:
Focus is superb. Nothing to suggest here. Well done.
Lighting:
One of the strong points of this image, image detail is vivid no dark or burnt out details. Good job.
Overall:
A great image and title, about as good as can be expected for this subject matter. Looking forward to seeing more of your submissions.
I knew I would lose votes because of my broad interpretation of the theme, but felt the need to share the photo, I'm actually really happy with 102nd because of that, about mid-range which is good, especially considering I could only take the photo in a 15 minute window and only a few hours before the challenge closed.
